CoolSculpting Elite FAQs
Does CoolSculpting hurt?
No, CoolSculpting is typically not described as painful. Patients say it produces a sensation of cold and a tight, pulling feeling. The area soon becomes numb, allowing you to relax and enjoy your book, movie or nap.
Does CoolSculpting help cellulite?
No, CoolSculpting does not help cellulite as it is strictly a fat reduction treatment. We offer another nonsurgical treatment, truSculpt iD®, that addresses both fat and cellulite, and minimally invasive cellulite treatments as well. One of our aesthetic professionals can help you decide which treatment is right for you.
How many inches does CoolSculpting take off your waist?
A. Some people report losing 1 to 3 inches after CoolSculpting, but results vary based on factors like body type and number of sessions. Clinical studies show cryolipolysis can reduce the treated fat layer by up to 25% after one treatment.¹
What about recovery and results?
CoolSculpting does not involve anesthesia or incisions, so no recovery period is required. Its precise cooling destroys only fat cells; surrounding tissue and cells remain undamaged.2 Some tingling, numbness, redness, light bruising or mild swelling may result following the treatment, but these are temporary, lasting only a few days. Your regular activities will not be restricted or interrupted. You can even go to the gym following your treatment.
How soon will I see results?
Following treatment, the body begins its natural metabolic process of breaking down and flushing out the damaged fat cells. While patient experiences vary, results typically begin to appear several weeks after treatment. Gradual fat reduction will continue, with final results typically showing after about 2 to 4 months.
How long will my results last?
The fat cells that die do not grow back; however, those that remain can expand with future weight gain. With consistent exercise and a balanced, healthful diet, you should be able to maintain your results. Plus, you can receive additional treatments, either to further reduce fat from the same areas or from other areas.
Is CoolSculpting right for me?
CoolSculpting does not replace diet and exercise and is not designed as a weight loss treatment. Think of CoolSculpting as a very effective touch-up treatment. If you are satisfied with your weight but cannot get rid of persistent fat from certain areas, despite regular exercise and a healthful diet, then CoolSculpting may be right for you. Scheduling a consultation with our board-certified plastic surgeon is the best way to learn if CoolSculpting is right for you.
