Lip injections have become more popular than ever and are a common “beginner’s treatment.” Because of this, new patients often have many questions about what to expect from their procedure.
At our med spa in Louisville, KY, we answer many lip injections questions about price, pain, recovery, and more. In this blog post, we’ll answer some frequently asked questions and explain what you can expect from treatment.
Lip Injections: Price
At our Louisville and Lexington, KY practice locations, the typical price for lip injections ranges from $550 to $1100. This amount varies so widely because lip augmentation is charged by the syringe. The price of each syringe is based on the type of filler, the number of units required, or a specific technique being used. Our staff is happy to guide you through each of your lip filler options.
Every patient’s needs are different, so the treatment is customized to suit each individual’s goals. You can receive a more specific price quote from your provider during your consultation.
Lip Injections: Recovery
There is zero downtime required after lip augmentation—which is one reason this procedure is so popular. You can return to work or home immediately after treatment. Your lips may appear a bit larger than expected at first, but don’t worry. This is part of the process, and the effect is only temporary.
Patients may experience slight swelling, redness, or bruising around the injection site a few days after treatment. But these issues will fade within a few days and can be easily treated with an ice pack.
Lip Injections: Pain
As with any injection, lip augmentation patients may experience mild discomfort while the needle is being used. You may experience a dull throbbing or small pinprick while the filler is being injected.
Topical anesthetics can be applied to the skin before treatment to help minimize any pain. Some fillers are also formulated with numbing agents, such as lidocaine, to help make injections more comfortable.
Lip Injections: Longevity
The longevity of lip augmentation results depends on the type and amount of filler being used. Hyaluronic lip fillers usually last 6 to 9 months, but this can vary based on the body’s individual absorption rate.
At our own practice, we often use fillers such as Restylane® or JUVÉDERM® that can last from 6 months to a year. These fillers also have the added benefit of smoothing out wrinkles while also plumping up the lips.
