Dermaplaning
At our CaloSpa® Rejuvenation Centers in Louisville and Lexington, KY, and Floyds Knobs, IN, we offer dermaplaning for men and women who want to improve their skin’s appearance and reduce the signs of aging and sun damage on their face and jawline. This chemical-free skin treatment exfoliates skin, removing impurities and dead skin cells from the skin’s surface to reveal refreshed skin.

What Is Dermaplaning?
During a dermaplaning treatment, your provider uses a sterile surgical blade to lightly slough away the top layers of skin and “peach fuzz” hair on the face and jawline, revealing fresher, brighter skin. The blade is held at an angle, allowing the provider to scrape away the top layer of dead skin cells and unwanted hair, leaving skin soft and glowing.
Dermaplaned skin is smooth and supple. It absorbs skincare products and serums more effectively, and makeup goes on more smoothly and evenly as well. Dermaplaning is a great way to prep skin for Hydrafacial®, DiamondGlow®, and chemical peel treatments as well.

What Is a Dermaplaning Treatment Like?
A dermaplaning treatment only takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Before the treatment, your provider cleans the treatment area thoroughly to prep the skin. Then, using an upward motion, the provider guides the blade in short strokes to remove the dead skin and hair. Since dermaplaning only affects the top layers of skin, there is no need for numbing cream or anesthetic. Once the procedure is completed, your provider will use a soft cloth to gently wipe away the sloughed off skin cells and “peach fuzz.” Your skin will look refreshed and smooth.

No. The vellus hair on your face will grow back after dermaplaning, but it will not be darker or thicker.
