JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA™ XC
Fuller lips. It's a common goal. Lip augmentation at our Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky med spas has become popular, thanks to JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA. It's a soft, smooth gel that not only adds subtle volume to the lips, but is also approved by the FDA for softening lip lines — the wrinkles around the mouth.

How JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA Works
VOLBELLA, like other JUVÉDERM products, is a dermal filler made with hyaluronic acid (HA). HA occurs naturally in the body, delivering nutrients and helping the skin retain moisture. Its unique formulation, though, is what makes it unlike any other lip augmentation filler currently available in the U.S. VOLBELLA's customized formula has a lower HA concentration than other fillers, but still produces the long-lasting results that are a hallmark of JUVÉDERM products.
VOLBELLA specifically addresses lip fullness and the fine lines that form around the mouth with the help of its innovative technology — VYCROSS® — a reimagining of HA fillers that was first introduced to U.S. patients with the FDA approval of JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC for age-related volume loss in the cheeks.
Your Procedure & Recovery
You'll see results after a single JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA treatment at CaloSpa. Lip lines are typically one of the most difficult aesthetic concerns to treat, and VOLBELLA is uniquely able to give you smoother skin in that area. Like most other injectable fillers, VOLBELLA includes an anesthetic called lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during the treatment. We can also apply a topical anesthetic before your injections, if desired.
Your treatment results will be visible almost immediately, and they may last up to a year. To maintain the results, you may want to schedule an additional injection 9 months after the first procedure.
Most of our Louisville and Lexington patients who get JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA XC injections return to work or their regular activities immediately, although some swelling, bruising, and redness may be occur. These side effects are usually mild, and they typically don't last very long.
Most people who have wanted fuller lips but are wary of "duck lips" are pleasantly surprised by the natural-looking results after treatment. The softening of lip lines creates a more youthful appearance without looking like you've been to a medical spa.
Q. Are there any special instructions for after the injections?
A. There is no recovery time following a VOLBELLA treatment, but you should avoid strenuous activity and drinking alcohol for 24 hours. Your lips might appear puffier than desired, but that's caused by the initial swelling. That usually resolves on its own after a day or two.
Q. What's the difference between VOLBELLA and Restylane® Silk?
A. Both VOLBELLA and Restylane Silk are approved by the FDA for lip enhancement and softening wrinkles around the mouth. You can expect VOLBELLA to last longer — up to a year, versus 6 months for Silk. At CaloSpa, our goal is to offer patients more options — and if you've been happy with Restylane Silk treatments, you may certainly continue using that product.
Q. What is the cost of VOLBELLA injections?
A. As with all injectable fillers and other aesthetic treatments, the cost of a procedure will vary depending on your specific needs and cosmetic goals. Filler prices are based on the amount used and the areas treated.
