Youthful skin retains its elasticity and smooth appearance thanks to collagen. As skin ages, the existing collagen breaks down, and the body produces new collagen at a much slower pace. The lack of collagen, coupled with gravity, causes the skin to loosen and sag. Ultherapy is a nonsurgical, FDA-cleared skin tightening treatment offered in Louisville and Lexington, KY, at CaloSpa®.

Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure that uses ultrasound energy to generate the production of new collagen. During the treatment, Ultherapy's low levels of focused ultrasound energy pass harmlessly through the skin's surface to target deeper tissues. That's where new collagen is produced, which supports and lifts the skin from within, creating tighter, smoother skin.
Before beginning an Ultherapy procedure, we use PRO-NOX™, a state-of-the-art nitrous oxide delivery system that helps minimize discomfort. We also recommend ibuprofen to patients for additional relaxation during the treatment. When the area is numbed, we use ultrasound imaging techniques to precisely locate deeper tissues. Your provider then passes the Ultherapy handpiece over the treatment area. It sends pulses of ultrasound energy in quick bursts. The entire procedure can take 60 to 120 minutes for patients who have their full faces and necks treated, or 60 minutes for the décolletage.

Ultherapy can also lift sagging brows, as shown in these before-and-after photos. Your results may differ. Photos courtesy of Ulthera.
How does Ultherapy differ from other skin tightening treatments?
Ultherapy is the only nonsurgical procedure that uses ultrasound energy to trigger the growth of new collagen. The results appear gradually as the body produces the collagen. Typically the final results appear about 3 to 6 months after the treatment.
How long do results last?
Most patients still have tighter, smoother skin a year after the treatment. Of course, your skin will continue aging and touch-up treatments can help maintain the results.
How many treatments are needed?
It usually takes only a single Ultherapy treatment for most patients, but, in some cases, we may recommend a follow-up procedure depending on the skin's laxity.
What areas can be treated?
Ultherapy is cleared by the FDA to tighten and lift skin on the face, neck, chin, and brow.
Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy?
The ideal Ultherapy candidates are women or men with mild to moderate skin laxity. This is the point at which your skin starts losing its youthful firmness but still maintains some elasticity. Ultherapy isn't a substitute for a facelift, but it's great for people who are not ready for surgery. Pregnant women or people with pacemakers shouldn't get Ultherapy treatments. You also shouldn't have metal in the treatment area.
