Tattoo Removal With the PicoSure™ Laser
Dr. M. Bradley Calobrace and Dr. Nana N. Mizuguchi are proud to offer PicoSure to their Louisville and Lexington laser tattoo removal patients. They also use the Spectra Q-switched Nd:YAG laser by Lutronic. PicoSure is the newest and most effective treatment for the safe treatment of unwanted tattoos and other benign pigmented areas of skin including freckles, moles, and some birthmarks. Research shows that PicoSure provides better results in less time than traditional laser removal.
PicoSure is the first and only aesthetic picosecond laser available today. Other treatments use nanosecond lasers that rely on photothermal action, delivering heat to the pigment and surrounding tissue. These lasers may not remove the darkest discolorations and can damage surrounding tissue.
PicoSure goes beyond photothermal action, using patented PressureWave™ technology that shatters the tattoo ink or other pigment into tiny particles whereas other tattoo removal lasers break the particles into rocks or at best pebbles, PicoSure turns the pigment particles into "sand" that can be then be easily discarded from the body. This FDA-approved tattoo removal treatment delivers energy to the skin in shorter, faster, and more powerful rates – 100 times more powerful. A picosecond laser pulse width is 100 times shorter than nanosecond technology. This short pulse width means half the exposure is required compared with nanosecond lasers.
The PicoSure Advantage
The benefits of PicoSure over traditional lasers include a more concentrated application of energy and fewer treatments (as few as 4 to 6, compared with up to 10 to 15 with nanosecond lasers). The quicker pulse and higher concentration of laser heat means patients experience less energy exposure, and there is less injury to the surrounding skin. Even dark, stubborn blue and green inks, as well as tattoos that were previously treated unsuccessfully, can be removed.Calobrace & Mizuguchi Plastic Surgery Center LOUISVILLE SPA MENU LEXINGTON SPA MENU
Your Treatment & Recovery
PicoSure laser applications are quick but can cause some discomfort, so cool air is used to sooth the area during treatment. Healing is faster than with other laser treatments, and there is virtually no scarring. Patients should avoid exposure to the sun or tanning beds for a week after treatment.
