Want smoother, more vibrant and supple-looking skin? Laser skin resurfacing might be the solution you’re looking for. Laser resurfacing eliminates old, dry, rough skin cells and stimulates collagen production to reveal silkier, more evenly toned skin. In this blog post, we’ll answer your top questions about laser resurfacing, from how to prepare for your treatment to how long you can expect your results to last. If you want to learn more about laser skin resurfacing and whether it’s right for you, keep reading!

What Is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing uses beams of light to remove the outer layer of your skin. At the same time, it heats the underlying dermal layer, spurring collagen production to create new, healthy skin cells. Although traditional laser resurfacing treatments tend to be aggressive on the skin, newer treatments such as ClearSilk® or NanoLaserPeel™ use gentler, targeted heat to improve skin concerns. Laser skin resurfacing can improve several skin concerns, such as fine lines and wrinkles, redness, scars, discoloration, and more.

How Should I Prepare for My Treatment?

You can prep your skin for laser treatment by minimizing sun exposure and using broad-spectrum sunscreen daily. Prolonged exposure to the sun can make your skin more sensitive to heat and even impact the results of your laser treatment. If possible, protect your skin from the sun for 1 to 2 weeks before your treatment—and that includes staying out of tanning beds.

Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Hurt?

Most patients feel a snapping sensation on their skin during treatment. If you undergo a more intense laser treatment such as Contour TRL™ or Halo®, expect to feel a prickling, stinging, or burning sensation. Your provider will apply a topical anesthetic to your skin to minimize discomfort. You can also use an ice pack to soothe your skin after the treatment.

How Much Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost?

The cost of your laser skin treatment will depend on the type of laser used and the area treated. At CaloSpa® Rejuvenation Center, our price for ClearSilk is $375 per treatment. The cost of laser skin resurfacing will vary depending on the individual. You can get more information about pricing during your consultation and on our treatment menu.

How Long Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Last?

Depending on your chosen laser treatment, your results may last several years. You can maintain your results by diligently caring for your skin: Use a high-quality moisturizer daily, and don’t forget about sun protection! At CaloSpa, we offer a wide range of products for optimal skin health. Regular maintenance treatments will also help you enjoy your resurfacing results for many years.
