What Causes Hair Loss?
Hair loss has many causes, but the most common culprit in both men and women is androgenetic alopecia. This genetic condition typically affects the top of the head. It occurs when a testosterone derivative called DHT attacks hair follicles, causing hair loss.
Other causes of hair loss include major stress, infection, certain medications and underlying medical conditions such as diabetes. Almost 50% of American men and about 20% of American women experience hair loss.
Who Is a Candidate?
The most successful transplants take place in patients who have waited until their hairlines have become stable after a period of hair loss.
NeoGraft is suitable for both men and women. Ideal candidates for a NeoGraft transplant include those who would like to wear the back and sides of their hair short without worrying about visible scars on the scalp that are often left by other methods. Patients who have previously undergone linear or body hair transplants can cover the scars resulting from these procedures with a NeoGraft transplant.
What Is FUE?
FUE is a hair transplant method in which individual follicles are harvested from donor sites at the back of the patient's head. The hairs in these follicles are genetically predisposed to not fall out. The follicles are then transplanted to thinning or balding areas - usually at the top and front of the head.
FUE does not require a large incision or stitches. As a result, it does not leave a linear scar, which ensures a natural look, minimal discomfort and a short recovery time. See the results of some of the hair restorations by visiting our before & after photo gallery.
How Does the Procedure Work?
NeoGraft uses pneumatic pressure (suction) to harvest and implant the hair follicles, making it a "no-touch" procedure. This minimizes the chance of damaging individual follicles. The NeoGraft device includes a computer-assisted handpiece that allows FUE to be done much more accurately and efficiently than when the hair follicles are harvested and implanted by hand. This means not only a higher survival rate for the transplanted follicles but also less time in the operating room and lower cost.
The least-invasive hair transplantation process available, NeoGraft poses minimal risk of bleeding or of damaging blood vessels and nerves. NeoGraft transplants take place under local anesthetic and do not require intravenous or intra-muscular sedation.Calobrace & Mizuguchi Plastic Surgery Center LOUISVILLE SPA MENU LEXINGTON SPA MENU
NeoGraft transplant patients should rest for 24 hours after their procedure, and most can return to work after a day or two. Patients should avoid strenuous activities for 7 days and avoid exposure to sun and heat for 3 weeks or more. Your recovery time will depend on the amount of hair transplanted during your procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly will my results develop?
Hair grows in cycles, so it's important to remember that the results of NeoGraft will not be immediate. The transplanted hairs will remain on your head for a couple of weeks after the procedure, at which point they'll naturally shed. This is a natural part of the hair growth cycle. The underlying follicles function normally and will begin to produce new hair within a few months. A noticeably fuller head of hair takes about 6 months to develop.
Does the NeoGraft procedure hurt?
We perform NeoGraft while your scalp is numbed with local anesthesia, so you shouldn't feel much discomfort (if any). Many patients say that the time commitment is the most challenging aspect of the procedure, but you're able to take breaks to use the restroom and move around as needed.
Will my head need to be shaved prior to the NeoGraft procedure?
The donor site does need to be shaved to harvest the maximum number of follicles. However, patients who wear their hair long are often able to conceal this shaved area under their existing hair while it grows back. It is not necessary to shave the entire head for a NeoGraft procedure.
It's also important to remember that, unlike a Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) procedure, NeoGraft leaves no visible scar.
